Free Public Materials & Displays
Easttown Library & Information Center may provide for the distribution, display or posting of free public materials (including handouts, flyers, posters, advertisements, brochures, or other materials) for public awareness. Consistent with the Library Bill of Rights, these items may represent diverse points of view.
Posted information and displays are limited to:
- Educational information
- Artistic/cultural programs and services
- Information from or about community or civic organizations
- Material from other organizations that partner with Easttown Library
The following types of information may not be posted or displayed:
- Free public material by for-profit concerns
- Proselytizing materials
- Partisan political materials (the exception to this is on election days, when partisan political posters may be displayed, but only when Easttown Library serves as a polling place).
Except in unusual circumstances, fund-raising advertisements and activities will be limited to those that directly benefit the Easttown Library, the Easttown Library Foundation, the Friends of the Library or the Chester County Library System.
The Easttown Library welcomes exhibits in the display case, provided that they are of general interest and serve to inform or enrich the community. Procedures for the use of the display case are available at the Circulation Desk.
No free public materials may be placed in the Library without advance permission of the Library Director or the Director’s designee. The location for placing materials is at the discretion of library staff. Materials must be left at the Circulation Desk for approval. The Easttown Library reserves the right to remove any material, including previously approved material, at any time and for any reason, including general appearance or timeliness.
Members of the community may voice concerns about the selection or rejection of free public materials for display or distribution using the applicable sections of the Statement of Concern form which is available at the Circulation Desk.
Approval to distribute, display or post free public materials does not indicate that Easttown Library endorses a particular idea, cause, organization, or activity, nor does denial of approval indicate the converse.
